About the Author
Born in 1932 in Fukuoka, Japan, Sensei Masataka Mori is an 8th-dan Karate instructor, Technical Advisor, and International Director of the Japan Karate Association (JKA). He is also Chairman and Chief Instructor of JKA Shotokan Karate-do International (SKDI). A disciple of of the late Sensei Funakoshi, founder of the JKA, Sensei Mori was charged with spreading the teachings of karate-do internationally. To that end he has taught in such countries as Canada, France, Great Britain and Venezuela, and has presided over the primary dojo of the New York region since 1967. He has held teaching positions at both SUNY Stony Brook University and the City University of New York.
