It's not a "how to" book but rather an inspiring look at how some artists and creatives have solved a particular problem or delved into an area of interest, with looks at their materials and tools, often creatively repurposed, and often with an eye toward a low budget and DYI aesthetic. I find it inspiring in particular because it offers insights into how people some work and how they arrange their work spaces. Even chapters on areas that don't especially interest me -- fiber arts, say -- offer ideas that might translate for my areas of interest. I like this book a lot.
This book is very interesting and full of ideas to build crafts and all sort of mechanical things with children. My seven year old and I are enjoying reading it and using it for ideas for our projects. Great gift for children who love using their hands and are artistic.
Excellent resource for educators. I teach STEM classes at a local library, and this book continues to give me new ideas for programming. The full color pictures are laid out very well, and each project has helpful tips for getting the project going. The design of the layout was very modern and appealing, and the authors showcase a wide variety of work by various educators and tinkerers. Highly recommended!
I love this stuff. Some of the projects assume you as a maker know more than you (I) know about what goes into them. But, for the most part it is a fun, fun book. How cool, too, that you can use the cover as a battery-powered doohickey.
Love this book. We recently visited the Exploratorium and it was a delightful learning experience. The book is like an encapsulated visit and packed with fun.
This was a gift for my 12 year old grandson for Christmas. He is a bookworm and I like to find non-fiction books for him that will hook his imagination. This book certainly does that. He loved it!
If you are in need of inspiration for tech-inspired projects in the classroom, formal or informal, this is the book to get. Such a wonderful layout and colorful, helpful photographs. Beautifully done.
This book gave me a lot of ideas for the makerspace that we are building in our school I love the visuals and examples that were stated and its a great resource so far!
